I usually don't think to much about it because I can usually cut smaller pieces but I was eating a burger (just the lower half of the bread, the meat, cheese and pinapple). I almost finished it all, first time I have eaten so much, NOT liking it, but I have a fill on Tuesday so it should be OK. Anywhoots, back to the sizes. Should I feel it if I take to big of a bite? I actually took a picture of one bite next to a dice hahaha I know a bit weird. So I ask does this bite look too big?

help, bite size?
Ok so I am still trying to get to grips with this size stuff. I watched on the video that it should be about the size of a dice. But I am not sure if I am eating the right size, so I ask you, how much do you concentrate on the size of the bites? I just don't want to screw this up, so no making a pouch above the band if I can help it.

I think my bites are smaller than that. Maybe not before I was filled, but definitely now. I never heard the size of a dice, I did hear the size of a pencil eraser, which would be much smaller.
ReplyDeleteIs that a regular size fork? If it is the bite may be too big. I use an appetizer fork so it keeps each bite pretty small, can't fit much on it which is a good thing!
I think more importantly is how much you chew eat bite before swallowing. I've been told atleast 40 chews per bite, not sure if I agree, but something to try. one of the hardest things for me was to not take another bite while i still have food in my mouth. I never realized how much food I shoveled into my mouth before.
Keep up the great job!
Hi it is a appetizer fork, I don't use normal cutlery any more. And I try to chew about 20 times which is what I was told to do.
DeleteI use an appetizer fork and don't worry too much about it so I'm sure you're fine. If it's too big...you'll know it.
ReplyDeleteOK thanks, I also use appetizer forks, I am scared to death of the regular ones. I am seeing my surgeon on Tuesday and I´ll ask him more about this stuff. I am supposed to follow the eight rules you can find on youtube.
DeleteI agree with Manda - if it is too big you'll know it!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to get to the "real food" stage. Bt I have heard that bites should be no bigge than a pea, eraser or a die. I plan on getting baby/toddler utensles and use those until I get used to the right amount.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your first fill.
Remember to Chew Chew Chew!! I have gotten "stuck" 3 times now with the latest being this morning on an omlette. So not fun.... After 40 years of regular eating it's hard to change behaviors.
ReplyDeleteI think the bite size looks right. Consider the density of what you are eating. You could easily 'mash' all of that to fit into the die. Sometimes I forget and take too large of a bite, but then I just SWALLOW half, then wait a minute, and swallow the other half.
